Another full learning day at The Mustard Seed!

Highlight from the day include:

We read a book about the importance of simply being there for someone - and really listening. Next time someone has a problem, try listening first. Be like the rabbit in the story!

We worked together to act out the book. It was so much fun and we practiced listening to others when we met with roadblocks, such as both wanting the same part! I think all the adults enjoyed themselves too:)

We made a collaborative piece of art with the help of Keeley, who runs an art group at the centre. I can't wait to show you a photo of the finished work, which will hang in or outside our room.

The handprints are all unique, despite the fact we all used the same materials. They each tell a story. Sometimes the story of the artist is different from the story 'read' by the admirer. Does this matter?

Miss Kelsey painted the tree that the hands will go on. She was inspired by The Mustard Seed School tree.

Two artists, side by side. Two inspiring people, side by side.

After lunch, the students were surprised by Keeley's sad story of her very challenging childhood. They were inspired by her positive outlook on life and determination to help many many others through volunteering.

We ended the day by using the plus 15 to visit the Art's Commons. We journaled about this piece of art. We drew and wrote down three wonders. Ask what your child drew and what they wrote about.

I can't wait to look more closely at the parent journals. They are always really inspiring to read. Thank you for your contributions.

A look into what goes on behind the scenes at the Learning Commons. What a great idea to let the general public see!

This art was made by grade 4 students at Twelve Mile Coulee school. I think they must have been to Jube School!

Tomorrow is our last day. Remember it is a half day with regular Friday dismissal! That is sad but we have heaps of notes and memories to ponder over, draw and write about. We also want to keep in touch with Miss Kelsey.
