We ended up last week doing data collection. Some people might call this an Easter egg hunt!

This led us nicely into graphing.  This week we made our own graphs, using the colored pencils in our pots. Answering questions about our graphs is the tricky part. The most confusing question we have found is 'How many pencils are green OR red?' Somehow it does not sound like an addition question! You can find some objects to graph at home, come up with some questions and answer them, to give your child practice.

We continue to deepen our understanding of paragraphs by combining paragraph writing with our social studies. We are looking at the differences and similarities between schools in Africa and Canada.

The students have really grown in their writing over the year! Most students are now able to write a paragraph by starting with a topic sentence, adding detail sentences that relate directly to the topic sentence and finishing with a concluding sentence. Wow!

Thank you so much for sending back the field trip forms early. Our class is going on two separate days, with half the class going on each day. The remaining half of the class will join in with the other grade three students. All students will come to me for attendance so there will be no confusion:)

You will notice that we do not get to eat lunch until about 1pm, so please make sure your child has a large breakfast and a large snack to eat.
